About Me

They say you can learn a lot about a person by the books they've read, but that you can learn everything about a person by the books they've re-read.  Here are some of the books I have read more than once:

Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
Heidi by Johanna Spyri
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Princess Academy by Shannon Hale
Hamlet by the Bard
Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier

Now you know everything about me.

Except for these things:
  • I'm 29, which is apparently the age you start forgetting how old you are.
  • I write books for youngish people. That is, people younger than me. Like high-school students, and their younger siblings.
  • The most recent of those books is called SUNCHILD, and it is currently looking for a fabulous agent to represent it.
  • I've published a few short stories.
  • Ophelia is my dog's name. She has a cat whose name is Catten. I think these names say a lot about us as a family. Or maybe they just say a lot about me.
  • I have an Etsy shop named after said dog, where I sell hand-painted mugs. (It's called Ophelia's Gypsy Caravan, which you'll understand the full meaning of when you reach the bottom of this list.)
  • I can trip over anything. Including flat concrete.
  • I like things that grow. Consequently I do my best to turn my balcony into an uncharted wilderness between the months of March and November.
  • I love the moon. This is why I named my typewriter Luna. (Also because of Luna Lovegood, but I'll Name My Typewriter After Luna Lovegood didn't sound quite right for a blog title.)
  • If I could be anything, I would be a gypsy. Or the Doctor's latest companion. Or married to Harry Potter.
There, now. That really is everything. If you'd like to drop me a line--or if you know of anyone who is hiring gypsies or who knows where to find the TARDIS or knows how to contact the Auror Office--you can post an email to hanna.c.howard(at)gmail.com. Or leave me a comment.
